Adobe Rented Photoshop to the Chat Window ↗

Adobe put its tools inside Gemini on 24 September and expanded what its Claude plugin can do. The pitch is that you never have to leave the conversation:

We’ve already brought Adobe to ChatGPT, Claude, Slack and Copilot, and today we’re extending that work in two exciting ways.

In Gemini you get pieces of Photoshop, Lightroom, Express and Firefly. In Claude, Acrobat joins the plugin for the first time, and Adobe says you can now call on more than 80 tools across Acrobat, Express, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, Lightroom, InDesign and Adobe Stock from one chat.

Read the setup instructions, though. In Gemini you select Adobe under connected apps and sign in with your Adobe account, or create one. In Claude you can start as a guest, but signing in is what unlocks higher usage limits, additional tools and continuity across sessions.

So the chatbot is not replacing Photoshop. It is a new front door to the same account. Adobe even says the quiet part in the closing pitch: handle more of the workflow in the chat, or continue in the flagship apps when the work calls for more depth.

That is a smart hedge. If people start their work in a chat window, Adobe wants to be the tool the chat window calls. Every one of those calls still routes through an Adobe sign-in.

The chatbot is the lobby. The subscription is still the building.
